Morpho Awarded Contract From Border Force in the U.K. for Trace Detectors
Morpho (Safran), through its subsidiary Morpho Detection, today announced a four-year framework agreement with Border Force in the U.K. to supply the handheld Hardened MobileTrace® and desktop Itemiser® 3 Enhanced trace detection systems.
Responsible for carrying out immigration and customs controls for people and goods entering the U.K., the Border Force will deploy these new systems to screen for narcotics at airports and seaports throughout the country. The first order of Hardened MobileTrace and Itemiser 3 Enhanced systems will be delivered in 2014 to replace legacy systems from various manufacturers.
“Morpho is committed to giving law enforcement the mobility and field capabilities needed to halt the flow of narcotics and other contraband,” said Cyril Dujardin, president and CEO, Morpho Detection International. “We thank Border Force in the U.K. for recognizing the detection and operational capabilities of Hardened MobileTrace and Itemiser 3 Enhanced by selecting them to support their important mission.”
Ruggedized and environmentally sealed for challenging environments, Hardened MobileTrace can identify a broad range of narcotic, explosives, toxic industrial chemicals (TICs), and chemical warfare agents (CWAs). A lightweight, portable desktop system, Itemiser 3 Enhanced can detect residue from narcotics and explosives on skin, clothing, parcels, bags, cargo, vehicles and other surfaces.
Morpho’s trace solutions incorporate ITMS® trace technology into handheld and desktop solutions that can make security screenings more productive and efficient. Trace narcotics and explosives detection sensitivity and reliability has already been proven in other Morpho trace-based products at airports, border crossings, military bases and other critical security checkpoints around the world.
