Westcan Bulk Transport Celebrates 50 Years
EDMONTON, Alberta, March 7, 2014 /CNW/ - Westcan Bulk Transport, one of Western Canada’s largest haulers of liquid and dry bulk commodities and a division of RTL-Westcan, is proud to be celebrating 50 years in the transportation industry. Founded in 1964 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Westcan Bulk Transport started out with a small fleet of 14 trucks hauling asphalt. Through expansion and numerous acquisitions, the company has grown to become a leading bulk commodity hauler in Western Canada and the Western Arctic. Today, Westcan Bulk Transport has a fleet of over 500 trucks, including 77 owner operators, and 1,650 trailers, and operates out of 16 locations across Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and the Northwest Territories. In November 2013, RTL-Westcan was purchased by The Kenan Advantage Group, North America’s largest tank truck transporter and logistics provider, as the flagship company for their Canadian presence. Westcan Bulk Transport proudly serves the bulk transportation needs of over 500 customers in the energy, mining, agriculture, and construction industries and strives to be a provider of choice through its uncompromising commitment to service, safety, and operational excellence. This includes comprehensive and ongoing safety training for employees and a leading edge fatigue management program. Westcan Bulk Transport is also making a difference in its communities by displaying “911” truck decals on several of its trailers in partnership with MADD Canada, a highly visible reminder to motorists of the dangers of impaired driving. “We are extremely proud of our successes over the past 50 years, through economic recessions and other challenges, and we know that we could not have done it without the loyalty of our customers and the tireless dedication and innovation of our employees”, said Grant Mitchell, President and CEO of RTL-Westcan. “The fact that we have so many long-time employees who have been with us for 10 years or more is a testament to the continued strength of our team and our organization”. About the RTL-Westcan Group of Companies: The RTL-Westcan Group of Companies specializes in hauling liquid and dry bulk commodities, freight hauling, and construction services. Headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta and operating out of 16 locations throughout Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories, they are one of the leaders in the bulk transportation industry in Canada.
