Emirates Group Security and DHL Global Forwarding have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Strategic Air Cargo Security Partnership, a DHL Global Forwarding initiative.

As one of DHL's preferred air carriers, Emirates Airline is one of the first airline partners to join this program.

The aim of this security partnership program is to work together and to agree on standard operating procedures (SOP) for high-value and high-risk air cargo, to share best practices and information on crime trends and to partner in lobbying towards authorities.

Commenting on the new partnership program, Dr. Abdulla Al Hashimi, Divisional Senior Vice President Emirates Group Security said: 'The Emirates Group has always been committed to strengthening security throughout the handling chain. Incidentally, it was Emirates and DHL that were among the first in the UAE and Middle East that attained the TAPA (Technology Asset Protection Association) certification. This is another programme that embodies the symbiotic relationship between major players and stakeholders in the cargo industry.'

Emirates Group Security will work very closely with DHL, which has already established a strong reputation for itself as a reliable and stable international express and logistics provider and will build on this reputation to offer value-added services to our customers, thereby generating greater confidence in Dubai's air cargo industry,' he added.

'We are glad to welcome Emirates Group Security, a leading security and valuables handling company in our Security Partnership program,' said Robert Larson, Senior Vice-President and Head of Global Security DHL Logistics. 'Previously we worked in parallel, whereas now we can combine our expertise and can contribute more efficiently to making the global supply chain more secure. I believe that this partnership is a good way to convince our customers to entrust their high-value freight to us, as both brands are internationally renowned,' concluded Larson.
