After eight years of expansion, the award-winning Qualified Envirotainer Provider Training and Quality Program (QEP), now has 500 participating stations. The landmark 500th station is that of Kuehne+Nagel in Amsterdam. This is an important milestone in Envirotainer’s efforts to provide customers with a reliable, worldwide platform for shipping temperature sensitive products. Envirotainer, the market leader in secure cold chain logistics solutions within the life science industries, pioneered the QEP program as a way to recognize Envirotainer’s Partner airlines, logistics providers, and integrators that are capable of properly managing Envirotainer container shipments. Periodic training is one of the important requirements for QEP Accreditation. Kuehne+Nagel continues to set the benchmark logistics service for the life science industries. With the addition of Amsterdam, Madrid, Rome and Zurich Kuehne+Nagel now operates 58 QEP stations within the current certified global KN PharmaChain network of 69 airfreight stations. The high quality standard of KN PharmaChain fits seamlessly with the QEP program with training, documented procedures and risk assessment and mitigation are foundational to each and every KN PharmaChain shipment. “The QEP program and its participants serve to ensure the quality of life of the patient” said Chris Fore, Compliance Manager at Envirotainer.  “QEP is both a benchmark and a means by which we engage our partners to provide consistent service.” “Kuehne+Nagel is proud to be part of the QEP program and to receive the landmark 500th certificate”, said Jon Chapman, Global Pharma Product Manager at Kuehne+Nagel. “QEP ensures that our global operation handles Envirotainer containers accurately and correctly and is able to correctly intervene in the event of an in-transit issue.” QEP has led the way for other pharmaceutical handling certification programs and, with 25 participating companies educating tens of thousands of individuals, the effect has been to both promote Good Distribution Practices and standardize the handling of Envirotainer containers. Kuehne+Nagel operates the largest number of QEP stations of any logistics provider.
