Evergreen management changes announced at US agency

Thomas Chen, Chairman of Evergreen Shipping Agency (America) Corp. (EGA) since 2007, is being transferred to assume a new position in Taiwan. Jack Yen, who is Vice Chairman of EGA, has been named Chairman.

The announcement was made by Captain S. Y. Kuo, Vice Group Chairman of the Evergreen Group, who is headquartered in Jersey City, NJ.

Chen was EGA President from 2000 to 2007, when he was promoted to Chairman. He has spent a major part of his career with Evergreen involved in activities in the U. S. and Canada and in Taiwan. He joined the worldwide ocean carrier in January 1974 as Evergreen was planning its entry into global container trades. Before returning to the U.S., he rose to President of Evergreen International Corporation in 1995.

Jack Yen was named Vice Chairman of EGA in January 2011, coming from Evergreen Marine Corporation in Taipei where he was Vice Chairman and President, since 2007. He joined Evergreen in 1978 and has spent his entire career with the carrier holding positions in North America, Hong Kong, Hamburg and Taipei.
