The shake-up in the upper reaches of Israeli flag carrier Zim has resulted in former Maersk Group partner and ex-NOL chief executive Flemming Jacobs joining the troubled company's board of directors. In a shareholder announcement, the Israeli carrier said that Jacobs had replaced Nir Epstein on the board as of October 6. Jacobs' role will last until July 15, three years after the closing of the company's recent debt restructuring. The shipping line also confirmed that Aharon Fogel, whose background is in insurance and finance, had now taken over as executive chairman, reports TradeWinds. Jacobs sits on the boards of numerous prominent shipping companies and is secretary-general of Danish Maritime Days, a new industry event for the global maritime industry. Jacobs' appointment is the latest in a series of changes in Zim. As well as Mr Fogel becoming chairman, Zim also unveiled a new board of directors following completion of its restructuring. CEO Rafi Danieli had been hoping to be appointed chairman of the carrier, but will instead continue in his current role.
