In view of the successful development of its contract logistics business in Belgium, Kuehne + Nagel is

extending the premises in Geel. Thanks to the additional 30,000 m', the total capacity of the site will increase to 75,000 m' in total.

Kuehne + Nagel has already been well-represented in the region with the Campus Kempen, consisting of the Geel and Eindhout site. The organisation mainly focuses on European Distribution Centre projects with high added-value services. Now, Kuehne + Nagel's presence will be even strengthened. The expansion follows the structural growth of storage space for a customer providing printers, toners and accessories, located at the Geel site. Moreover, the additional capacity in Geel will be used for new businesses acquired in 2012, particularly for a provider of espresso and coffee machines and for a leading manufacturer of toys.

The first phase of the construction encompasses an additional 20,000 m' that will be added to the existing site of 45,000 m'. The full completion of Phase I is planned for October 2013. Phase II will provide the possibility to

build a further 10,000 m'. Furthemore, the last compartment will be specifically designed to meet the requirements of the pharmaceutical and health-care industry.

The existing facility was built in 2006, and at the same time, Kuehne + Nagel also acquired the adjoining land which is now being used for the extension of the site. 'The upgrade of the facility in Geel as well as the opening of the site in Mechelen late last year underlines the success of the 'Quality Leadership' strategy of Kuehne + Nagel Contract Logistics focusing on state-of-the-art facilities to offer logistics services with high addedvalue", says Ernst Cuppens, Managing Director Kuehne + Nagel Belgium.
