Mumbai-based Global Aviation Services has appointed Klien Fernandes as General Manager of its recently-launched Dubai subsidiary, which operates as Jupiter Express Services.

Fernandes has over 15 years’ experience in forwarding, express and logistics working in both operations and sales. He joins from Linehaul Express, where he was General Manager - India, responsible for the company’s airline express GSA activities. He has also worked for TNT.

His mission is to develop Jupiter Express Dubai to provide the Global group’s full portflio of services throughout the UAE. Jupiter’s services already include inbound and outbound express consolidations, clearance, container build-up and breakdown and sea-air wholesale. Jupiter is now in negotiation with several carriers to provide them with full cargo and passenger GSSA services.

Says Fernandes, “The aviation industry here is poised for phenomenal growth, with UAE-based aircraft fleets and passenger traffic set to treble within 5 years. Huge investment is taking place in airport infrastructure ready for the next generation super-jumbo aircraft.

“Global already has strong express traffic to the UAE from India, and we see the expansion of our Dubai base as an essential development of our network to take advantage of increased trade, cargo and passenger traffic between India, the Middle East, Europe, the UK and the USA.”

Global Aviation is India’s largest cargo GSSA company, and is one of India’s largest passenger GSSAs.
