First Solar Inc plans to develop a delayed 30 megawatt solar project in Inner Mongolia with China Guangdong Nuclear Solar Energy Development Co, the companies said.

The deal follows an agreement between First Solar and the government of Ordos in September 2009, under which the company would eventually develop a solar power plant that would reach a capacity of 2 gigawatts, about the size of two nuclear reactors. The project would be the first by any non-Chinese company inside the country. Under the new agreement, China Guangdong Nuclear will be the majority project owner and operator and will handle the engineering, procurement and construction. First Solar, which makes the world's lowest cost thin-film solar modules, is the largest solar company by market value. (Reuters)
