It is essential that truckers and dispatchers, especially, should brief themselves on the restructuring of the Customs landscape in Hamburg, since in everyday practice they will need to observe new regulations for the collection of goods for import and export, as well as for transfers within Hamburg.
To adjust themselves to the new procedures, firms based in the present Freeport zone will already be observing European Customs Seaport regulations from December 2012. The Freeport covers roughly one-fifth of the entire port area. With these preparatory measures, the Hanseatic City is well equipped for its future as a European Customs Seaport.
The contents of the flyer have been drafted in close cooperation with the Central Customs Office for the Port of Hamburg. It is obtainable in German, English, Polish and Czech at the gates of the four Hamburg container terminals as well as the Customs posts on the border of the Freeport. In addition, it will be available as a download on the home pages of the companies publishing it:
Eurogate GmbH & Co. KG, Port of Hamburg Marketing e.V., Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG, Verband Straßengüterverkehr und Logistik Hamburg e.V. and Verein Hamburger Spediteure e.V.
