Effective June 1, 2005 Fraport Cargo Services GmbH (FCS), a 100% subsidiary of Fraport AG, in cooperation with Bucher Group member Hahn Cargo Services GmbH (HCS), wil provide its full range of physical and documentary freight handling services plus a wide range of add-on services at Frankfurt-Hahn Airport.

FCS will start its operations in a warehouse that is already being used by HCS for warehousing and turnaround. A new hangar with an area of approx. 5,000 sq. m. is already planned for the year 2006 and this will have direct access to the apron.

This new service is of particular benefit to airlines that fly from both FRA and HHN, as linking the processes at the two locations will provide rapid handling without the involvement of other parties.

While FCS will be contributing its over 40 years of experience in freight handling at the Frankfurt location and its proven IT technology, HCS has the suitable infrastructure at an excellent location and experienced warehouse staff trained for handling freight in accordance with FCS quality criteria. FCS will be contributing its product and process knowledge which will ensure that the same high standard will be offered as in Frankfurt and at most competitive prices.

Winfried Hartmann, Managing Director of FCS, is therefore convinced that this new service will be a success: “We are certain that we can offer the airlines a concept that provides the optimum link for airfreight between Frankfurt and Frankfurt-Hahn, as it reduces the number of parties involved and as a result overall costs will fall. There is only one price for all the services linked at the same time with cost transparency and absolute comparability. We have found the right partner for setting up the company, since HCS and FCS complement each other perfectly in their particular core competences.”

Gerhard Bucher, HCS CEO, also recognizes the benefit of the new service: “As a service provider we are used to drawing up and marketing comprehensive solutions consistently tailored to the customer’s requirements. The experiences of a logistics operator come together here with those of an airfreight specialist. We are convinced that the full service packages that we have jointly put together will be of definite interest to freight-oriented airlines and that they will also generate a corresponding demand for the Frankfurt-Hahn location.”
