GAC Logistics (UK), Ltd. has opened a brand new, purpose-built 3PL logistics facility at East Midlands Airport in Castle Donington, Derbyshire. The move from previous premises trebles the company's floor space and will enable GAC Logistics to offer enhanced 3PL (third party logistics), warehousing and distribution services.

'This impressive new facility will enable GAC Logistics to better serve our customers' growing 3PL and warehousing requirements,' says Dennis Mead, GAC Logistics UK's Managing Director.

'The move is the first step in GAC UK's strategy to leverage our global expertise to provide specialised services for the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), pharmaceutical, textile and entertainment industries ' among others.'

GAC's new East Midlands Airport facility is located at the East Midlands Distribution Centre (EMDC), a 140-acre rail connected national distribution. It is centrally placed within the UK's road network with easy access to the M1 and M6 motorways and other major routes.

'The modal choice provided by the EMDC is key in establishing an effective supply chain and allows optimum operational efficiency, be it on a national or global level,' explains Dennis Mead.

The new site has its own X-ray facilities to improve the service GAC Logistics provides. 'Our ability to provide x-ray services on site is a real competitive advantage,' says Peter Smith, Transport Manager. 'We can speed up the transport process by eliminating the need for extended close-out periods at the airlines' delivery points.'
