A new office in Antwerp, Belgium, is the latest addition to global shipping, logistics and marine services provider GAC Group's global network of more than 300 offices. Antwerp is the second largest port in Europe in terms of cargo throughput, particularly for liquid bulk, the volumes of which grew by more than 30% last year. Significant volumes of dry bulk and project cargoes also pass through the port and it houses the biggest concentration of petrochemical industries outside of Houston, Texas. Natural, Strategic Progression "Given the significance of the Belgian port for regional and local trade, opening a GAC office there is a natural, strategic progression,” says Ivo Verheyen, Group Vice President, Europe. "Our commitment to providing professional, integrated shipping, logistics and marine solutions to the energy and bulk commodity sectors now extends into Belgium, with a strategy to better serve the needs of our clients in the ARA (Antwerp, Rotterdam, Amsterdam) region." The GAC Belgium team consists of Office Manager, Alain Meyer and Account Manager, Thor Verstraete, both of whom have a wealth of tanker experience, perfectly aligned with the company's diverse oil & gas and liquid/dry bulk sector clients. They are joined by Peter van Dael, who brings extensive knowledge of the Antwerp maritime industry and many years of project cargo and chartering expertise to his new role. The GAC Belgium team will be working closely with GAC’s existing team in nearby Rotterdam, Europe’s biggest port.
