Gebruder Weiss is staying true to its path of continuous network expansion in Central and Eastern Europe. The Austrian transport and logistics company has announced the opening of a new location in Györ, close to the Austrian border. Operations at the terminal started at the end of July. “With the opening of the Györ branch, we aim to further strengthen our position in the region of Western Hungary”, explains Thomas Schauer, Country Manager for Hungary. A further reason for the expansion of the network is the introduction of the truck toll in Hungary: “The new location will enable us to continue to ensure economic production costs. Operating in Western Hungary from the central branch near Budapest is now more difficult due to the toll which has been introduced.” At the new location in Györ, Gebrüder Weiss offers its complete range of services from overland transport and air and sea freight through to individual logistics solutions. The industrial park in Györ is home to many well-known companies from various industries. In particular the automotive sector, for which Gebrüder Weiss has already implemented numerous solutions, is one of Hungary's emerging industries. The new GW branch at the Ipari Park in Györ has over 1,500 m² of storage area and 1000 pallet storage spaces. Ten employees currently work there. Gebrüder Weiss has been present in Hungary since 1990 with the joint venture 'Hungaroweiss' and since 2005 as 'Gebrüder Weiss Kft'. The national organisation for Hungary has been constantly developing and today features its own locations in Mosonmagyaróvár, Hajdúböszörmény, Dunaharaszti near Budapest and an Air & Sea terminal at Budapest airport. A total of 190 employees work for Gebrüder Weiss in Hungary.
