For 20 years, Gebrüder Weiss has enjoyed successful representation on the Czech market and is now expanding its logistics site in Brno by adding two warehouses, a cross-docking hub and additional office space. “We are constructing a state of the art logistics warehouse, built according to TAPA security requirements and equipped with an item location system. This way we can monitor the throughput of goods even more efficiently,” says Harald Prohaska, Country Manager in the Czech Republic for Gebrüder Weiss. The expanded 32,500 m² site will become operational in the summer of 2015. Ideal Starting Location for End-customer Delivery With its new infrastructure, 300 highly-trained employees and a modern logistics portfolio, Gebrüder Weiss Czech Republic is helping its customers streamline their operations and therefore strengthen their market position. One such example is Mall.cz, a company that has enjoyed successful collaboration with logistics partner Gebrüder Weiss since 2009. Within the Czech Republic, Mall.cz has established itself as the market leader in the online mail-order business and last year alone grew by 35 per cent. “Given the wide range of goods we have, the new Gebrüder Weiss terminal provides an important base for our rapidly growing online business,” explains Marek Liška, Managing Director of Mall.cz. Gebrüder Weiss Czech Republic delivers a total of 77,000 different Mall.cz products to their end-customers – everything from books to body care products and washing machines. “What we particularly like about Gebrüder Weiss is their willingness to keep on developing, thereby improving our processes as well,” says Liška. The logistics specialist picks up goods from the Mall.cz local warehouses several times a day, and within 24 hours delivers them to Mall.cz customers in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. Gebrüder Weiss has also been providing practical home delivery services to its Austrian customers for several years. The international transport and logistics company has combined these established services under the GW pro.line home brand and has extended home delivery to all parts of Austria. Steady Business Expansion  The Czech branch was founded in 1992 and has expanded its local network steadily since then. Apart from its head office in Jeneč, near Prague, the company has six other sites in the Czech Republic and provides its customers with the entire range of transport and logistics services, including LTL and FTL services. Despite the slight recession of recent years, the 2013 fiscal year was extremely successful for Gebrüder Weiss Czech Republic. The volume of consignments rose by 25 per cent and turnover by 7 per cent. “Against the backdrop of the current economic recovery, we see a very favourable outlook and we will continue to invest in the Czech Republic,” says Reinhold Grasser, Regional Manager North at Gebrüder Weiss.
