Governor Bobby Jindal appointed Michael W. Kearney to the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans. He will serve a five-year term, succeeding John Fay, one of four Orleans Parish members on the regional Board, which governs Port operations in Orleans, Jefferson and St. Bernard parishes.

Kearney is president and owner of The Kearney Companies Inc., a New Orleans-based third-party logistics company serving the supply chain needs of many large exporters and importers within the Port of New Orleans.

“I am truly humbled and honored for the opportunity to serve on the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans,” said Kearney, who has been involved in the development of trade and commerce in New Orleans for more than 40 years. “I look forward to working with my fellow commissioners, Port staff and the entire maritime community to build upon the Port’s strengths as a world-class shipping center.”

Prior to founding the Kearney Companies in 1996, he served as president of Neeb – Kearney & Company and the Jackson Kearney Group. In 1997, Kearney became president of Transocean Terminal Operators – the Port’s largest stevedoring company at the time.

“The Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans will be served well by Mr. Kearney’s extensive experience in the global shipping industry and the regional maritime community,” said Port President and CEO Gary LaGrange. “I am thrilled to welcome him aboard.”
