The Grand Alliance (GA), of which Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) is a member, has suspended its North Atlantic Express (ATX) and Pacific Atlantic Express (PAX) services to the Port of Rotterdam.

The two trans-Atlantic services will call the port of Amsterdam's Ceres Paragon Terminal (CPT) instead, operated by Ceres Paragon Terminals, an affiliate of the NYK Group.

The GA decided on the port switch to avoid possible delays in stevedoring activities and mainline schedules resulting from system failures that have been troubling Rotterdam's ECT Delta Terminal since early May.

Accommodated by the CPT were Bonn Express (voyage No. 030) and California Luna (069), both of which have been deployed in the ATX service, with the former arriving at the terminal on May 20 and the latter on May 24.

The PAX service's Dresden Express (087) was also welcomed to the CPT on May 23.

The GA will discuss the possibility of continuing to serve the CPT while keeping an eye on Rotterdam's future developments.

The GA currently operates four service loops in the Asia'Europe trades, with EU1 and EU2 already serving CPT and EU3 and EU4 calling the port of Antwerp to avoid Rotterdam.
