Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) is pleased to announce that its Logistic Control System 2 (LCS2) has been awarded the Best Business Grand Award and Best Business (Application) Gold Award in the Hong Kong Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Awards 2009 at the awards presentation ceremony held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 19 January 2010.

Mrs Rita Lau Ng Wai Lan, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development presented the Grand Awards to winners of the nine award categories in the Hong Kong ICT Awards. Hong Kong Computer Society is the organiser of the 'Best Business Award' category and the judging panel of this award comprises 12 IT professionals who select the winners based on seven judging criteria: functionality, effectiveness & efficiency, competitiveness, cost performance, social impact, presentation and innovative use of IT. Hactl is honoured to be chosen as the Gold Award as well as Grand Award winner in the 'Best Business Award' category.

Being developed in house, Hactl's LCS2 is an efficient and sophisticated computer system to handle cargo storage, transfer and retrieval in SuperTerminal 1 for specific type of containers in an efficient and least manpower manner. The LCS2 consists of the core system LCS-CSS and LCS-BSS. In addition, a Schematic Display System (SDS) applying geographical information system technology and a 3D virtual simulator (PLC simulator) are operated to track and visualise equipment location, resource distribution, and allow load performance simulation to project the operation needs

The Hong Kong ICT Awards 2009 are coordinated and administered by an Organising Committee, chaired by Mr Jeremy Godfrey, the Government Chief Information Officer with members from the industry, the academia and the Government. The awards recognise, promote and commend the excellent achievements to which Hong Kong ICT professionals and organisations contribute.
