Under present practices, Hamburg S'd/Alian'a sources chassis from the Metro Chassis Pool for both merchant hauls and for carrier-conducted intermodal moves.
Effective May 1, Hamburg Sud/Alian'a will no longer serve as a provider of chassis to shippers moving cargo with merchant's haulage through Baltimore-area terminals and depots. Shippers, their agents or consignees will, from that date, need to procure equipment directly from the Metro Pool or other chassis providers of their own choosing.
