At the 19th Australian Shipping & Marine Industry Awards in late November, Hamburg Süd received a total of five awards. The shipping group took first place in each of the Liner Trade Awards in the services from Australia to North America  and New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and Papua New Guinea. Additionally, Hamburg Süd was the winner in the category Customer Service, for which a stand-alone prize was awarded for the first time. Hamburg Süd received high commendations as runner-up for their liner service from Australia to North-East Asia and in the category Environmental Transport.  The awards are conferred every year by the trade paper Lloyd’s List Australia according to various judging criteria such as schedule reliability and customer satisfaction surveys. Conferral of the new Customer Service Award was based on performance indicators that included punctuality, documentation and equipment standards. Geoff Greenwood, Joint General Manager Area Australia/New Zealand for Hamburg Süd, accepted the prizes during the evening event in Doltone House, Sydney. “The awards are a validation of our enormous efforts. Our congratulations go to all our staff in Australia and New Zealand as this is tremendous recognition of our team’s performance.”
