By: | at 08:00 PM | Air Cargo

Just one month after closing 2007 with record-breaking traffic figures - 52 million passengers and over 387,000 metric tons of air cargo, the Houston Airport System (HAS) is starting off 2008 with even more increases in international passenger and air cargo traffic.
Total freight tonnage for HAS grew by more than 6.3%, year-over-year, in the first month of 2008.

International regions served by IAH for cargo service registered impressive growth.

The international regions with the most significant air cargo traffic growth during the month of January 2008 were Asia, Africa and Australia combined, with an increase of 45.2% year-over-year, and Canada, with an increase of 8.8%, in comparison to the same month last year.

Among the carriers with the most registered growth in air cargo were Burlington Air Express, with a year-over-year increase of 55.6%; Saudi Arabian Airlines, up 22.4%; and Air France, with an increase of 19%, all in comparison to the same time frame in 2007. (Houston Airport System)
