Icelandic Group UK Ltd, based in Grimsby, imports headed and gutted fish into the EU via Rotterdam, and then ships it to processing plants in the Far East. The fish is then re-imported as fillets and portions for distribution to major supermarkets and restaurant groups. Icelandic was recommended to look at the iCE system by an existing Impatex customer. Says Impatex Account Manager Ian Dumkow: “Icelandic needed a system that could create an OPR (Outward Processing  Relief) entry, which iCE does. “Our customer painted a really good picture of Impatex as a company, particularly our helpdesk and the fact that we provide dedicated account managers for our customers.” Icelandic is currently using iCE for imports, but expects to use it for exports, too, within the next 12 months. iCE will also be linked to Icelandic’s in house system at a later date, using the iCE generic interface. Says Icelandic’s Logistics and Import Manager Matthew Cook: “We wanted to bring our clearances in-house, and this user-friendly system enables us to do this with great ease.” Icelandic joins major shippers including Tie Rack, Nestle and Rockwell Collins in using Impatex software to perform Customs entries in-house.
