International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) announces the appointment of Jan Nowak as Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Batumi International Container Terminal LLC (BICT), manager, operator and developer in the Port of Batumi in Georgia.
Capt. Nowak replaces Frank Carter, who left BICT last 30 September.
Capt. Nowak joined ICTSI in 2006 as Terminal Manager of Baltic Container Terminal Ltd. (BCT), an ICTSI subsidiary in Gdynia, Poland. He was later promoted to Chief Operating Officer and Vice President.
Before BCT, he was Operations Manager in a terminal operated by Operaciones Portuarias Canarias SA (OPSCA) in Las Palmas, Spain. He worked for OPSCA from 2003 to 2005. He was a mariner for 16 years, starting as a Junior Deck Officer for various containerships in 1988, and went to become Chief Mate in 1995. He was also Cargo Superintendent for CMB-T, later Safmarine Lines from 1997 to 1999, then vessel Master for various containerships from 1999 to 2003.
