Diversified Fall Protection recently unveiled an improved loading dock safety gate to further complement the company's comprehensive line of fall protection solutions. This OSHA-compliant rolling safety gate protects personnel from loading dock falls and is available in 6 ft., 8 ft. and 10 ft. stock widths.

"The average loading dock poses a four-foot fall hazard, which is enough to cause serious injury or death to pedestrians and fork lift operators. This safety gate will help reduce injuries caused by unprotected loading dock fall hazards," says Jeff Schneid, President of Diversified Fall Protection.

The barrier system's new pivoting design utilizes a rolling wheel, providing total accessibility to the dock's overhead door and truck opening. When not in use, the safety gate is easily rolled back to the locked and protected position. The pivot and roll feature of the safety barrier eliminates lifting and removing heavy sections of portable guard rail, keeping loading docks gated and OSHA compliant when not in use. A floor-based, pin lock feature also reduces tripping hazards posed by other mobile dock safety gates currently on the market.

"OSHA and Department of Labor statistics routinely list falls as the highest cost and the second-most-frequent cause of workplace fatalities, second only to transportation and highway related incidents," says DFP's Engineered Safety Systems Specialist Matt Pittner. "This system is easy to use, cost-effective, and represents a significant improvement in loading dock fall protection."
