Intermarine took home BEST SHIPPING LINE - PROJECT CARGO from the 2005 Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCAs) held at Hong Kong's Intercontinental Hotel on April 27, 2005.

Now in its 19th year, the AFSCAs are widely regarded as the most authoritative and prestigious award for the industry in Asia and one of the highlights of the Asian freight industry calendar.

"We are pleased to have received this award," said Richard Seeg, Intermarine's Area Manager ' Asia, stationed in Shanghai. "The award shows that we are succeeding in our goal to provide the best service level to our clients in this constantly changing market."

The awards recognize excellence in companies from Europe, North America, The Middle East and Asia, and reflect the global nature of the cargo industry serving Asia 's Shippers.

More than 12,500 readers of Cargonews Asia, the leading industry newspaper in the region and organizer of the AFSCAs, were polled to select the best service providers in 41 industry-specific categories. This year was the first year that Project Cargo carriers were given an award.

Intermarine, who has served the Asia market for more than fifteen years, was voted best project cargo shipping line. The company recently moved its Asian commercial headquarters from Seoul to Shanghai.

"Our existing customers are investing more heavily in China, and Chinese shippers are starting to take a more active role in freight decisions " commented Mr. Seeg."This change in the Asian trade scene, along with reduced project cargo volumes between Asia and the Americas, and higher charter and fuel costs, requires much more flexibility. We are taking a more hands-on role in constructing customized voyages to meet the needs of our customers, he added.
