The long-standing business association between Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), the world-leading maritime services provider, and PT Equator Marindo (EM), has resulted in a significant contract covering agency representation in Indonesia from United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), a global shipping company based in the Middle East. The outsourced agency services to be provided by EM, with the support and guidance of ISS, will be key to UASC achieving their growth ambitions for the country. The contract, which begins in December 2014, will see EM provide a full range of liner agency functions for UASC across the whole of Indonesia. This includes sales, operations, documentation and financial services. The new operation on behalf of UASC will comprise nearly 40 staff, of which around 30 will be new hires. New branch offices will be opening in Surabaya, Semarang and Medan with other locations being covered by sub-agency agreements, as well as the refitting of existing offices in Jakarta. Commenting on the new contract, Eddie Filus, Senior Vice President Liner at ISS, said: “Having already represented UASC in Australia for several years, we have now significantly expanded our relationship with the company. They wish to work only with trusted, international and professional agents, and we are delighted to be part of their continued growth.” David Skillen, Vice President Asia for UASC, added: “Indonesia is a key territory for us, as we seek to expand our business.  With a partner like ISS, we are more easily able to grow into new geographies, safe in the knowledge that the same high standards which we have experienced in Australia will be applied in this country.”
