Raul AlfonsoIndustry veteran to further growth initiatives

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) has promoted experienced maritime professional Raul Alfonso to the position of Senior Director, Trade Development and Global Marketing. He succeeds Roy Schleicher, who was recently promoted to Chief Commercial Officer. In his new role, Alfonso will work with existing and potential customers to grow all cargoes and associated business through the port, as well as oversee sales efforts in Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Alfonso has nearly 30 years of experience in the maritime industry. Before joining JAXPORT’s marketing staff in 2002, he was Director of Marketing and Trade Development for the Americas for the world’s largest terminal operator, Hutchison Port Holdings, based in Freeport, Bahamas. Previously, he worked for the Port of Miami, holding several management and senior level positions in the areas of vessel and terminal operations, intermodal operations and marketing.

“Raul has a deep understanding of the maritime industry and the needs of our customers,” said Schleicher upon announcing Alfonso’s promotion. “He has played a major role in our recent extraordinary growth and I know he will continue to successfully encourage the global marketplace to recognize the opportunities now present in Northeast Florida.”
