The 2006 Annual Report tells the story of an incredibly successful year for JAXPORT and contains in-depth information on the following:

  • Operating revenues in fiscal year 2006 reached a record $38.5 million, JAXPORT’s third consecutive year of record revenue and sixth consecutive year of revenue growth.
  • JAXPORT cargo facilities reported their busiest year ever, handling a record 8.7 million tons, the port’s third consecutive year of record tonnage and sixth consecutive year of record growth.
  • In 2006, 130,000 cruise passengers embarked on 78 voyages aboard the Carnival Celebration at the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal. A total of 95 percent of passengers surveyed said they would consider JAXPORT for their next cruise departure.

JAXPORT’s 2006 Annual Report projects a positive outlook for 2007, including the start of construction of the new TraPac Container Terminal at Dames Point and plans to attract further cruise activity to Jacksonville.

JAXPORT generates almost $3 billion in economic impact annually in Northeast Florida and supports nearly 50,000 direct and indirect jobs in the area, making the seaport a true engine of economic opportunity.
