K.L. Harring Transportation LLC, a leading provider of logistics services to the U.S. pharmaceutical, retail, and consumer manufacturing industries, announced it has joined CargoNet’ (www.cargonet.com) as a charter member. Keith Harring, president of K.L. Harring, has also been selected as CargoNet’s latest advisory board member.

“With cargo theft in the United States at an all-time high, it’s extremely important that all organizations moving freight do everything in their power to lower their risk of theft,” Harring said. “We’re excited to be able to add CargoNet to our arsenal of weapons to combat cargo crime. Combining CargoNet with our other theft-prevention tools will allow us to continue to offer the safest and most secure mode of transportation to our clients.”

“CargoNet is thrilled to have K.L. Harring on board as a charter member,” added Sal Marino, director of business development for CargoNet. “It is best-in-class carriers such as K.L. Harring that are changing the face of supply chain security by instituting best practices into their security protocols. Data sharing between K.L. Harring and CargoNet is one more step toward a collaborative approach to mitigate the risk of cargo theft and supply chain interruption on a national level.”

A division of Verisk’s ISO Crime Analytics unit, CargoNet helps prevent cargo theft and increases recovery rates through secure and controlled information sharing between theft victims, their business partners, and law enforcement. CargoNet is centered on a national database and information-sharing system managed by crime analysts and subject-matter experts. CargoNet applies an integrated, layered approach that exploits the weakness of cargo thieves at multiple points and includes integrated databases, a theft alert system, task force and investigations support, a tractor/trailer theft deterrence program, the TruckStopWatch’ program, driver education and incentives, secondary-market monitoring and interdictions, crime trend analysis and loss control services, and training and education.
