On 19/6/14, Intercargo members were advised that its Secretary General, Rob Lomas, would be stepping down from his position this summer. In a communication to the Intercargo members, Intercargo advised that after 14 years, Rob Lomas had reached a decision to resign from Intercargo and to seek alternative employment elsewhere.  John Platsidakis as Intercargo Chairman together with Nicky Pappadakis, Giuseppe Bottiglieri and Dimitris Fafalios of the Management Committee have now confirmed that position. Lomas said : “The Intercargo achievements in respect of the Work Program have been obtained only with the support of an exceptional team of colleagues who have worked assiduously and successfully to push the membership views at IMO and elsewhere.  With the support of the members, Intercargo has successfully focused on issues such as safer shipping, cargo liquefaction, benchmarking of Bulk Carriers, tackling port state control corruption and putting over the global membership views on Ballast Water Management and harmonized Common Structural Rules, to name but a few.” Platsidakis said “The Intercargo Management Committee will now discuss Intercargo priorities and the appointment of a successor.  Further announcements on that will be made in due course.  We wish Rob every success in his future endeavours and thank him for his involvement and contribution during his time at Intercargo.”
