Moffatt & Nichol announced that The City of Long Beach, CA, recently selected the firm for two contracts. The first is an as-needed multi-discipline coastal engineering and environmental consulting services contract. Areas where the company may support include recreational and commercial marine facilities, marinas, beaches, waterways and inland ecological habitats and lakes.

This one-year contract, with options for two additional years, may involve dredge engineering and environmental support, environmental maintenance or management consulting for ecologically sensitive areas, architectural design and support, civil engineering, and other professional consulting services.

The second contract involves an expedited reconnaissance phase study to investigate reconfiguration of the Long Beach Breakwater, with the intention to improve water quality and restore recreational surfing. The City has commissioned this study to gauge Federal interest in supporting further, more detailed, study of the project’s feasibility.
