Eric Malitzke has been appointed Managing Director DHL Hubs & Gateways Germany and Chairman of the Management Board DHL Hub Leipzig GmbH.

In his new role, Malitzke is in charge of DHL Express hubs and gateways operations. He will be responsible for ensuring continuously efficient operations at Leipzig hub, as well as further expanding its cargo volume and quality level. Eric Malitzke, a German national, previously worked for Leipzig/ Halle Airport where he held the position of CEO. Prior to this, he held several senior management positions with Fraport AG, most recently as Deputy Vice President for Cargo, where he was responsible for Controlling, Business Development and Marketing & Sales.

Commenting on his new role, Eric Malitzke said: 'My new task at the DHL European Hub in Leipzig is a great opportunity for me and it adds a new dimension to my work. The European hub has an important role to play within the worldwide DHL network. I am looking forward to this task and working with an engaged team.'

DHL's Leipzig Hub was inaugurated in May 2008. It is ideally situated to provide direct North-South and East-West access to Europe, and connecting both established and emerging markets in Central and Eastern Europe and Asia.

The hub can operate 24 hours a day, seven days per week with 60 daily flights and a daily turnover of 1,500 tons.
