MOL has announced that effective January 15, 2010, the company will increase ocean freight rates for all refrigerated cargo originating in the US and exported to Asia.

The general rate increase (GRI) will be $200 for 20 foot reefer containers and $250 for 40 foot HC reefer containers and $300 for 40 foot HC reefer containers from intermodal and US East Coast all water shipments to Asia. 'MOL has been operating costs rise as rates on the US to Asia trade have contiinued to slide throughout the past year,' said MOL (America), Inc. Executive Vice President Tsuyoshi Yoshida. 'This reefer increase is necessary to ensure that we are able to continue to provide the service levels our customers have come to expect.'

MOL will also increase ocean freight rates for all refrigerated cargo originating in Canada and exported to Asia, effective January 22, 2010. The GRI will be $200 for 20 foot reefer containers and $250 for 40 foot HC reefer containers from the Canadian West Coast to Asia. The GRI will be $240 for 20 foot reefer containers and $300 for 40 foot HC reefer containers from intermodal and Canadian East Coast all water shipments to Asia.
