NASSTRAC announced the recipients of its 2007 Carrier of the Year, an annual program that recognizes transportation providers on a quantitative scale in five key areas: customer service, operational excellence, pricing, business relationship, leadership and technology.

This year, NASSTRAC regular members who are qualified buyers of transportation services graded carriers they use on a 4-point scale in the following categories based upon regional scope and capabilities: National, Multi-Regional, Regional-Northeast, Regional Southeast, Regional West, and Parcel. Due to significant growth NASSTRAC has experienced as a result of its expanded coverage to all transportation modes, two new categories were added this year: Regional-Midwest and Expedited.

"NASSTRAC has been encouraging the high performance of carriers for years through this awards program," said Terri Ferraro, director of supply chain and transportation for Famous Footwear, and NASSTRAC's current provider relations chairperson. "NASSTRAC leverages this annual awards program to continually promote performance excellence in the transportation industry."

Receiving the celebrated NASSTRAC Carrier of the Year Awards in 2007 are: Roadway in the National category; FedEx Freight in the Multi-Regional category; New England Motor Freight in the Regional-Northeast category: AAA Cooper in the Regional-Southeast category; USF Holland in the Regional-Midwest category; Oak Harbor Freight Lines in the Regional-West category; UPS in the Parcel category; and Fed-Ex Custom Critical in the Expedited category, which was newly instituted in this year's awards program. Recipients of the award will be recognized at the 2007 NASSTRAC Logistics Conference & Expo taking place May 6-9 in Orlando.
