The North Carolina League of Transportation & Logistics (NCLTL) announced that Bill Vaughn, corporate logistics supervisor at Lorillard Tobacco Company, is the recipient of the Bill H. Teague Lifetime Achievement Award for 2014. The award was presented Friday, June 20, at NCLTL’S 83rd Annual Conference at Hilton Kingston Plantation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. With more than 42 years of service, Vaughn spent the majority of his transportation career at Lorillard Tobacco Co. where he was responsible for managing the transportation of everything from raw tobacco to finished products. His career includes broad experience across a variety of roles at Lorillard Tobacco Co., including operations, management and corporate supervisory positions. Vaughn retired in May 2014. In addition to his work at Lorillard Tobacco Co., Vaughn has been actively involved with several different traffic and transportation clubs and community organizations over the years. He currently serves on the Board of Governors with NCLTL and works extensively with the YMCA and United Way. The annual award recognizes a deserving person who has left their mark in the transportation and logistics industry and has contributed significantly to the betterment of the industry in addition to the education and success of others within the business. During the presentation, Ellis Brotherton, the 2011 recipient of the award, said: “With extensive transportation experience, dedication to the industry and diligent leadership skills, Bill has demonstrated true industry professionalism and we congratulate him as recipient of the BHT Lifetime Achievement Award for 2014”.
