Intelek Technologies Corporation, developers of leading edge web-based EDI and load gathering solutions for the trucking industry, has announced that Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. has adopted its StripMiner EDI Screen Scraper Software. The less-than-truckload (LTL) motor carrier is now using StripMiner integrated with its enterprise transportation management and internal Electronic Data Interchange platform to automate its transactions with shipper web sites and save time and lower costs.

'EDI is a critical part of our data exchange offerings,' says Thomas Hall integration architect on the e-Commerce Team at Old Dominion. 'While our larger customers typically have their own EDI infrastructure, StripMiner makes it possible for us to work with smaller customers to manage EDI interactions much more effectively.'

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is a less-than-truckload super regional carrier that provides coverage through 210 service centers with over 5,500 tractors and more than 21,000 trailers to over 48,000 points in the U.S. and Canada. Based in Thomasville, North Carolina, the 75-year-old company's four operating groups-- OD'Domestic, OD'Expedited, OD'Global and OD'Technology'offer an array of innovative products and services.

StripMiner EDI Screen Scraper Software is a web-based load gathering software product that automates freight carrier load gathering from shipper and logistic company's websites using predefined processing rules to automatically accept loads or generate transactions.

'Our internal EDI platform is a mix of commercially available software and applications developed in-house by our OD'Technology business unit,' Hall relates. 'Integrated with our legacy system, it supports many different types of EDI translation sets for over 1,500 shippers and trading partners. StripMiner makes sense because it quickly and accurately matches the guidelines for interacting with LTL shipper web sites, and gives us control over how we can fine-tune those interactions for specific customers.'

Implemented in July 2009, StripMiner is already generating savings for Old Dominion. In its LTL operation, it saves 20 hours per week by eliminating data retrieval and entry needs. For each new customer that requires EDI capability, it can save as many as 40 hours of time spent previously programming an interaction with a customer's web content. In addition, the improved accuracy of information is leading to an increase in productivity and efficiency.
