The Old Dominion Tulsa Service Center hosted the first of eight stops on the 2012 Old Dominion Truck Tour, a nationwide excursion aimed at celebrating the company's history and vision for the future with customers, employees and communities.

The tour celebrates Old Dominion's 78-year heritage, which dates to 1934. The company, which started with a single truck, is today one of the largest less-than-truckload motor carriers in the United States and employs more than 14,400 people globally.

'We have such a unique and proud history at Old Dominion, and the truck tour gives us an opportunity to share our experiences and plans with each community we visit,' said Chip Overbey, Old Dominion's senior vice president of strategic business development. 'The Truck Tour is a small way for us to thank the many people who consistently help us keep our promises throughout the year.'

In March, Old Dominion was named as one of America's 100 Most Trustworthy Companies by Forbes magazine. The annual recognition is awarded to publicly traded corporations that have consistently demonstrated transparent, conservative accounting practices and solid corporate governance and management.

The company was also honored in March as the No. 1 National LTL carrier by Mastio & Company as part of the company's 2011 Value and Loyalty Benchmarking Study. Old Dominion ranked first in national less-than-truckload carriers included in the study and shippers voted the company first in 21 of the 30 categories deemed to be most important to customers.
