Pacific Air Cargo LLC has today confirmed it will operate an additional B747 Freighter service on its Los Angeles – Honolulu route this Sunday. The Sunday February 15 flight will depart Los Angeles at 2:30am PST and arrive into Honolulu at 5:50 am local time. The return flight will depart Honolulu on Monday February 16 at 2:30pm local time and arrive into Los Angeles at 10pm PST. The extra flights will provide almost half a million pounds of additional freight capacity between the West Coast and Hawaii. Pacific Air Cargo Chief Executive Ms. Beti Ward said, “Pacific Air Cargo will make every effort to place additional wide-body aircraft into service on the trans-Pacific route to ensure that essential and emergency supplies continue to reach the islands during the shutdown of the West Coast ports”. Ms. Ward added, “It is important that our loyal customers and the people of Hawaii know that we will do everything possible to provide the capacity to meet their needs, and to support our local businesses”. The company is closely monitoring the situation on an hour by hour basis and also stands ready to operate special charter flights to American Samoa and to Guam, if the ports shutdown becomes protracted. “For more than a decade Pacific Air Cargo has provided a vital link between Hawaii and the West Coast with reliable, on-time transportation of perishable goods, livestock and pets, vehicles and for outsize items such as large aircraft engines and machine parts,” said Mr. Thomas Ingram, Pacific Air Cargo’s Vice President of Operations. Adding, “The huge capacity offered by our 747 aircraft and the ready access to additional aircraft means quite simply that Pacific Air Cargo can move a huge amount of freight to keep the islands supplied during this strike”.
