Forty years ago Panalpina established its first delegation office in Tokyo. In the meantime the company operates offices also in Osaka, Narita, Nagoya and Fukuoka. Coinciding with the forty-year anniversary, Panalpina Japan is gearing up to change its status from a commercial delegation to a completely operational entity.

A reception was held at the Swiss embassy in Tokyo to celebrate 40 years of Panalpina market presence in Japan. CEO Monika Ribar was delighted to look back on the company's history together with high-ranking guests, customers and partners.

'I am proud to celebrate the long business history of Panalpina in Japan together with you today. Forty years after establishing our first delegation office in Tokyo, we today have offices in Osaka, Narita, Nagoya, and Fukuoka where ninety-five dedicated Panalpina employees proudly serve Japanese and international customers', she said.

Coinciding with the forty-year anniversary, Panalpina Japan is preparing to become a fully operational entity as Panalpina and the NYK Group have realigned the level of their cooperation. 'We will be able to offer a wider range of services to our existing and potential customers by insourcing key air and ocean freight processes', Monika Ribar emphasized. 'This latest milestone reflects our deep commitment to Japan with its vibrant marketplace that remains as exciting, dynamic, and fascinating as in 1969 when we started our business activities here', she added.

With the many years of experience also comes appreciation of long-term partnerships, said Monika Ribar. 'This applies in particular to the NYK Group and its subsidiary Yusen Air & Sea Service, but also to other core partners for air and ocean as well as local suppliers who all have crucially contributed to Panalpina's success in Japan!'
