Panama Ports Company (PPC), part of the Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) Group, has taken delivery of four super post-panamax quay cranes at the port of Balboa. The tandem-lift dual-hoist cranes have a lifting height of 36 m above the rail, and an outreach of 52.1 m that spans 19 rows of containers. The equipment is part of the USD 300 million Phase IV Development of the port, which is in turn part of a large-scale modernisation project. The delivery raises the total number of quay cranes at the port that are capable of servicing such large post-panamax ships to 18 ' more than most ports have in Latin America.
