The Philippines and the State of Oregon in the Unites States further strengthened economic ties with the Philippines’ recent launch of a logistics facility in the port city of Portland, the state’s main port.

The launch comes three months after Manila-based port operator, International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), took over operations of Terminal 6 in the Port of Portland. ICTSI subsidiary, ICTSI Oregon, Inc., now runs terminal 6.

“The logistics facility in Portland will complement the operations of Terminal 6, and will bolster the facilitation of PH-US trade,” says Enrique K. Razon Jr., ICTSI chairman and president.

The launch of the logistics facility was made possible after Philippine trade officials led by Undersecretary for International Trade Adrian S. Cristobal Jr. met with Portland Mayor Sam Adams, the Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce officers in Oregon, and business leaders in a recent visit to Portland.

“ICTSI is ready to cooperate and extend assistance to the Philippine government in further improving trade with the US. We are willing to help whenever we can,” Razon added.
