Pilot Freight Services, a worldwide provider of transportation and logistics services, has beat its own record, with revenue for 2014 hitting $547.9 million. This marks a 12 percent increase from the company’s previous revenue high mark of $500.6 million in 2012. “As our business continues to expand, we increasingly find ourselves in a sweet spot in the market—big enough to have the global reach and resources that our customers require, but small enough to be able to give personalized attention and customized solutions,” said Richard Phillips, chief executive officer of Pilot. “Thanks to that niche and the unmatched customer service that our team provides, we’re in a strong position to keep growing in 2015 and beyond.” Phillips continued, “Our growth last year was driven by a focus on our main area of strength: moving heavy-weight, expedited freight. In addition to manufacturing and retail companies, which have always been a big piece of our customer base, we made real strides this year in verticals like automotive and aviation. This strategy has really paid off for us, as has our decision to expand into additional North American locations, including Vancouver and Mexico City.” Pilot saw strong year-over-year growth in several of its business units in 2014, including home delivery (up more than 22 percent) and international (up nearly 12 percent), and was bolstered by further development of the company’s logistics offerings.
