The Port of Port Manatee Propeller Club honored developer Stanley Riggs with its highest honor as Maritime Person of the Year during ceremonies March 9th at the Bradenton Yacht Club.

Riggs owns Federal Port Corporation and is developing a $20 million warehouse complex at Port Manatee’s entrance on US 41 North of Palmetto. The Port Manatee Commerce Center features seven buildings totaling 400,000 square feet to supplement the explosive growth at Port Manatee in recent years.

‘Calculated risk-taking is a trait shared by successful entrepreneurs,’ said Propeller Club President Ed Sheffield during the presentation. ‘Mr. Riggs has distinguished himself as a visionary, recognizing the opportunity Port Manatee represents to all area businessmen.’

Steve Tyndal, Port Manatee’s senior director of trade development and special projects, was honored as Propeller Club Member of the Year. Tyndal serves on the organization’s board of directors as first vice president.

Steven Blust, Chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission, is the club’s guest speaker April 19th, at the Bradenton Yacht Club. Guests are welcome to attend the monthly general membership meetings by making reservations with Ann Layton at 941-721-0223, extension 21.
