PureTech Systems has announced that the Port of Charleston, which operates five deep water marine terminals and regularly handles 8400-TEU vessels, has expanded deployment of PureTech Systems' PureActiv geospatial video management system to protect the perimeter and critical assets at two additional terminal locations. The installation, performed by I-Sys Corporation, targets both water and land intrusion and utilizes both the PureActiv map-based VMS and its geospatial video analytics.

"Two key aspects of the installation are PureActiv's geospatial video analytic capabilities and its advanced camera auto tracking feature," states PureTech Systems' Vice President Sales Kevin Campbell. Geo-referencing, which enables geospatial video analytics, involves the mapping of live video to the physical environment, meaning actual latitude, longitude and elevation. "From a user standpoint," states Campbell, "This allows for a dynamic, map-based user interface with excellent situational awareness for the operator. Additionally, it enables geospatial video analytics, meaning intrusion events can be made based on very specific attributes including real target size, real target speed and actual location of the target in real space. Combining this ability with zone based and behavioral video analytics provides for a very robust solution for the Port."

The installation includes over 150 fixed and PTZ day / night cameras for both daytime and night time surveillance. "We continue to move forward with the PureActiv® system based on its ability to provide intelligent video analytics, geospatial command and control, camera auto tracking and its capacity to integrate with a wide range of perimeter systems and sensors," stated Jeff Brown Security Program Manager for the South Carolina State Ports Authority. The deployed system includes PureActiv's geospatial map based command and control and "slew to cue" functionality, whereby the system can automatically position a camera to view an exact latitude and longitude triggered from a detection event or a direct command from an operator.

The deployment marks the completion of the second phase in the Port's multi-facility roll out, which is under way. Phase one, which included the installation of PureActiv at the Wando Welch Terminal, provides complete perimeter security coverage, including water and land side regions, utilizes over 170 CCTV cameras and includes integration with the port's Lenel access control system and Southwest Microwave fence sensor system.
