Long-time Port of Everett Marine Terminal Director Dave Madill has announced his retirement, and Marketing Director Walter Seidl has been appointed to the key port role. Madill came to the Port of Everett in 2007 after more than 30 years of marine terminal experience from the Port of Portland in Oregon. Over the past seven years, he has managed the tremendous growth in the seaport, the opening of a new specialty facility to support the aerospace industry and the ebbs and flows of business as a result of the Great Recession. During his time as Marine Terminal Director, the Port more than doubled its tonnage and container volumes.  “I have enjoyed working at the Port of Everett these past seven years, ” Madill said. “My background was in primarily in container operations, so it was fascinating navigating all the challenges and opportunities that comes with the logistics of handling overdimensional cargoes. I have seen a lot of unique cargoes during my time at the Port of Everett.”
Madill, who retires in April 2015, will be replaced by Marketing Director Walter Seidl. Seidl, a veteran maritime professional, was hired in 2013 to continue to attract new customers and cargoes for the port. “I am very honored to take on this new challenge,” Seidl said. “The Port of Everett offers a unique skill set, and is poised for continued growth. We are known for our excellent customer service, and I plan to continue this reputation The Marine Terminal Director reports to the Port’s Chief Operating Officer Carl Wollebek. To assist in a smooth transition of duties Seidl will assume the responsibilities of the Marine Terminal Director effective January 1, 2015.  With Madill’s retirement and Seidl’s promotion, the Port will be seeking a new marketing director to fill the space left open by the staffing changes in mid-2015.
