On Saturday, October 3rd, China Shipping Container Lines' CSCL New York sailed into the South End Container Terminal on its inaugural visit to the Port of Halifax. Calling weekly in its new round-the-world service, China Shipping will have 10 - 4,200 teu vessels in their rotation over Halifax. Halifax is the only Canadian port of call on its Asia Med America Express (AMAX).

"We're ecstatic to see her in the Port of Halifax," says Karen Oldfield, President and CEO, Halifax Port Authority. "This is a great opportunity for us and an indication that Halifax is becoming known as a smart gateway for Asian trade to enter North America. We're looking forward to growing our relationship with China Shipping, says Oldfield."

Presentations to the Captain were made onboard the vessel by representatives from the Halifax Port Authority, Halterm Ltd., Eastern Canada Towing Limited and Furncan Redford. The new three-year service agreement was signed by Halterm Limited and China Shipping Container Lines in August 2005.
