Port of Long Beach trade volume continues to rise

The monthly container cargo count at the Port of Long Beach increased for the seventh straight month in June 2010, rising 25.8 percent compared to the same month last year. Imports were up 27 percent, while exports rose 1.8 percent. Overall, the Port handled a total of 520,100 twenty-foot equivalent container units in June; 262,053 TEUs inbound, 116,112 loaded outbound TEUs and 141,935 TEUs of empty containers. Empty containers, which are mostly bound overseas for refilling, were up 25.8 percent.
