Railinc announced that over 460 rail carriers are now reporting rail event data through its data network. Rail carriers, shippers, consignees, equipment managers and third parties access this data through various connectivity options including "RailSight", which provides a single access point to the most comprehensive database of rail event data in North America -- including intermodal equipment.

RailSight "pushes" data to subscribers in near-real-time to ensure that the latest information is always on hand. Coupled with Railinc's "NextPath" VAN service, Railinc can deliver data in custom data formats, provide translation services and distribute end-user reports directly to any desktop or wireless device. RailSight supports over 20 different Car Location Message (CLM) formats as well as EDI 214 and 322 formats. RailSight has the ability to append Standard Point Location Codes (SPLCs), ETAs, purchase order numbers, as well as bill of lading numbers to any of these data formats. Intermodal users now have access to unique features such as empty in-gate reports and in-bond customs information.

"RailSight is just one more component in the full suite of rail data services Railinc offers supply chain and logistics professionals across North America," said Richard Flynn, Railinc's Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Sales. "We deliver up-to-the-minute updates to RailSight users who also depend upon our vast network to provide more data and flexible reporting formats than any other rail data provider in North America. RailSight users routinely tell us that they can now make better, more informed decisions increasing the satisfaction of their own customers."
