The Delaware State Senate has confirmed Governor Ruth Ann Minner's nomination of Secretary of Finance, Richard S. Cordrey as the new Chairman of the Diamond State Port Corporation's (DSPC) Board of Directors on Friday, June 30, 2006. Sec. Cordrey has been serving as Vice Chairman since January 31.

Established by the State of Delaware in 1995, the DSPC owns and operates the Port of Wilmington, Delaware. The Port of Wilmington is the busiest full service terminal on the Delaware River, and is the nation's leading gateway for imports of fresh fruit, and juice concentrates.

'I am very pleased that the Delaware Senate has confirmed Sec. Cordrey as the new Chairman of the Diamond State Port Corp; only the third person to serve in this extremely important position', remarked DSPC Executive Director, Eugene R. Bailey.

'Chairman Cordrey is a highly respected public servant who has dedicated the majority of his very successful professional and political career using the legislative process to address the needs of his fellow Delawareans and to improve the attractiveness of Delaware to new and existing businesses.

Our port faces a very promising and challenging future and one with many opportunities for commercial growth. Working together under Chairman Cordrey's leadership, I am confident the port will successfully convert these opportunities into new business for the port and increased economic impact for our state and region', added Bailey.
