Benjamin Schatzl is the new Product Manager Seafreight for Gebr'der Weiss in Shanghai. The transport and logistics company has announced that the long-term logistics expert will be responsible for the service portfolio in the Asia-Pacific region. Schatzl, who was born in Austria, reports to Vojislav Jevtic, Global Product Manager Seafreight. 'I'm very pleased to welcome Benjamin Schatzl into our team,' says Jevtic, and he continues: 'we know him as a highly professional expert for Asia with valuable knowledge about the Asian ' and particularly the Chinese ' market.' Benjamin Schatzl has over 15 years of international experience in the logistics industry. Among other things, he held management positions in the field of key accounting and sea freight in Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai.

Expansion of the intra-Asia market

With the appointment, Gebr'der Weiss is intensifying its proximity to the Asian market. The aim is to develop the specialised market expertise locally. 'From Shanghai, we want to strengthen our relations with Asian shipping companies and respond to the rapidly growing customer demand for logistics solutions in Asia,' explains Jevtic. One of Schatzl's main tasks will be the expansion of activities in the intra-Asia market.

'We are increasingly required to provide specialised solutions in Asia, because the consumer market there is developing rapidly,' says Jevtic. He further says that Gebr'der Weiss has got many customers in Europe, who sell their goods to North and South America, Africa and Oceania, with production taking place in Asia. Following this tendency, the company, besides constructing local sites, is also building up its expert know-how in the Far East. Gebr'der Weiss is active in the Chinese market in cooperation with R'hlig Logistics. Today, Weiss-R'hlig is represented in 17 locations in China.
